My Fall TBR

My to be read (TBR) lists tend to be rather up in the air. Sometimes I may pick up one book one month and revisit it several months later. Rather than monthly TBR lists, I decided to make a seasonal list. I am in my last semester of graduate school and classes are rather heavy. I found myself reading a bit less than usual for leisure. However, I discovered audio books –and found that I was able to multitask with school and enjoy books in a different format…and read even more!

I discovered the apps Libby and Hoopla recently from my local libraries–both applications offer eBooks and audio books while supporting the locations. I highly recommend asking your local library about digital circulation.

Anyway, let’s get onto My Fall TBR!

I know The Lightning Thief doesn’t seem to be that spooky or fall-related. However, it is a book I’ve been wanting to read for quite some time! It is a middle-grade book and seems to be a quick, but enjoyable series. However, I do know that there are many spin-offs and may end up with a much taller TBR pile…

Cemetery Boys has been on several TBR lists I’ve came across. This book is about the main character’s struggles with identity as a transgender male. I read a brief sample. The book embraces latinix culture, from brief dialogue exchanges in Spanish, to food references. One side of my family does have come from Mexico, but much of the culture was lost over the course of generations, including most of the language and traditions. I was curious to explore this culture through this book.

I know, I’ve been meaning to read The Toll for quite some time. After the events of the previous novel (no spoilers), I was very excited to read the conclusion of this series! This series is quite dark, but the world building in previous books was very well-paced and interesting.

I am going into Six of Crows without much knowledge of this duology. I work in a library and it was on the summer reading list for the high schoolers–I remember the premise grabbing my attention as well as the cover. It was also one of the first books I’ve seen in person with painted edges. The book has been on my mind for quite some time and like the other books in this list, I am excited to start it!

  1. As someone who struggles with TBRs, I love the idea of a seasonal one with lots of wiggle room for mood reading! I am also slowly making my way through the PJO series for the first time and am enjoying it a lot. Cemetery Boys is a great fall read and I hope you enjoy it!
